NORTH CAROLINA’S GIANT RED DRUM - The waters of North Carolina’s Crystal Coast play host to some of the largest redfish in the world. And taking on these monsters was precisely why George visited Morehead City with his Mako 2201, the Shallow-Water MARC. Leading the way is Captain Gary Dubiel, a well-known light-tackle guide and authority on catching giant reds. Poveromo and Dubiel head to the Neuse River, where they anchor on a shallow shelf, pitch out chunks of fresh mullet on circle hooks and wait for a fish to eat. The duo release fish of 50, 48, 42, and 30 pounds in the morning, then head back later in the afternoon to land two more fish in the 30-pound class. This is one episode a redfish fan can’t afford to miss! The Poveromo crew stayed at the Comfort Inn in Morehead City.
