Spec Fever offers fishing charters throughout the year, catering to both light tackle and fly-fishing enthusiasts. From great winter and spring fishing to hot summer & fall topwater blow-ups, Trophy "Bull" redfish, tarpon, striped bass, bluefish, reds, speckled trout, flounder, largemouth bass, catfish and panfish, New Bern has a world-class saltwater fishery with a nice touch of sweet water action to satisfy even the most experienced anglers.
We offer these fishing charters:
- 5-hour long half day 2 anglers $500
- 8-hour full day for 2 anglers $800
- additional anglers $50
- We provide all the necessary fishing tackle, lures, or flies for your trip. Our fishing tackle is of the highest quality, and we take great pride in the gear you will be using. When fishing with Capt., Gary you will be using Sawgrass spinning and fly rods, Florida Fishing products spinning reels and Old Marinier fly reels. You are welcome to bring your own tackle; however, please inform us about what you plan to bring, so we can adjust our tackle accordingly.
- Bringing a jacket or rain gear, sunscreen, a hat, and polarized sunglasses is always advisable. Bottled water, ice, and a cooler will be provided on the boat. Feel free to bring any additional beverages you desire for the day. In North Carolina, it is mandatory for anyone under the age of 13 to wear a suitable life vest while aboard a moving recreational vessel.
- We provide a cooler with ice and bottled water. You are welcome to bring a small cooler with additional drinks, snacks and lunch.
- We adjust our meeting locations according to the predicted weather and the recent successful fishing. We'll determine our starting location close to the date we are fishing to maximize our productivity. We'll email, text or call you with the address of the boat ramp and launch time.

- Reservations not secured by deposits are subject to cancellation without notice.
- Deposits are refundable if cancelled greater than 30 days from the start date of the trip.
- 100% refunds for weather cancellations. Weather cancellations are determined by the captain.

Spec Fever holds USCG, NCDMF, and NC Wildlife licenses and insurance. You will need to acquire a North Carolina saltwater fishing license and potentially a NC freshwater (inland) license. The freshwater is required in joint and freshwater areas we fish. When fishing these New Bern fishing charters you will need a NC Inland fishing license. These licenses are available online.
