Tarpon fishing in the Neuse River and Pamlico Sound has traditionally been a bait fishery. However, similar to trophy red drum fishing, Capt. Gary has pioneered a successful artificial lure and fly-fishing approach. The tarpon in the Neuse River are substantial, often weighing around 100 pounds. It's important not to equate Neuse River tarpon fishing with that of the Florida Keys. Following two outstanding seasons and chances to catch trophy redfish as well, we are excited to provide full day charters every year from July 1 through September 10.

Our Location
We offer tarpon trips from both New Bern and Oriental, NC. New Bern is a vibrant small city located about 2 hours east of Raleigh and it is located at the confluence of the Neuse and Trent Rivers. It has numerous restaurants and places to spend the night. Oriental is perched on the picturesque Neuse River, 28 miles east of New Bern. This quaint village, home to approximately 900 residents, provides accommodations, dining options, and shopping venues. New Bern, the nearest regional airport, offers flights with American Airlines.

- Peak tarpon season is in the summer late June, July, August and early September.
- Tarpon Charters are full day only.
- Our trips can originate from Oriental or New Bern
- We fish 1 to 3 anglers, but we recommend no more than 2 anglers.
- We specialize in artificial lure and fly-fishing trips
- Full day price $800 for 2 anglers, +$100 for 3rd angler
